My name is Elaine Walsh, and I am the founder of Autism & Me.

This work is shaped by both professional experience and lived reality.

It comes from years of supporting individuals and families, and from a personal understanding of how complex and demanding daily life can become when systems do not align with real needs.

"Our daughter is not her diagnosis—she's one-of-a-kind perfection, with personality so vibrant, even her diagnosis takes a back seat!"

Our Mission

Family Impact

Autism & Me was not created from theory alone. It was created from lived experience, from pressure, and from the kind of questions that arrive in the small hours when the house is quiet and sleep does not come. There were nights when I found myself standing in the kitchen at 3 am, unable to rest, thinking about my husband’s diagnosis and what it had forced me to confront. I kept returning to one difficult question: what would happen if the unthinkable occurred? What would happen to the children, to the family, and to the delicate structure of care and support we were somehow managing to hold together? That question sharpened everything. It revealed how exposed families can be when systems are fragmented, when support depends on persistence, and when too much rests on the shoulders of people who are already carrying more than most can see. It deepened my understanding of what support truly means. Not token reassurance. Not vague information. Real support. Practical support. Joined-up support that works in everyday life. Autism & Me grew from that place. It is shaped by lived reality as much as by professional insight. It reflects a belief that families should not be left to navigate uncertainty alone, and that systems must be designed to support people before they reach breaking point.
