Disability in Irish Higher Education 2023/24

According to AHEAD's 2023/24 Participation Rate Report, 22,519 students (8% of the total HE student body of 281,847) were registered with disability support services. This represents an 8.56% increase from 2022/23 data and a 364% increase since 2008/09. The postgraduate participation rate remained low at 3.3% compared to 9.3% at undergraduate level. 90.3% of registered disabled students received at least one exam accommodation. There were 484 students per Learning Support Staff member, an increase from 421 in 2022/23.
