Ireland's UDL Journey: Progress and Challenges

In Ireland, the journey toward UDL is well underway but far from complete. The legislative and policy frameworks are increasingly aligned with UDL principles, from the EPSEN Act and the Equal Status Acts to the NCSE's landmark 2024 Policy Advice Paper and the Department of Education's Statement of Strategy. The curriculum frameworks at primary and post-primary level are progressively incorporating UDL language and principles. AHEAD, SOLAS, Oide, and a growing number of higher education institutions are developing the resources, training, and communities of practice that UDL implementation requires.
