Primary Education: Curriculum Developments

At primary level, UDL principles have been progressively embedded in curriculum design over the past decade, particularly since the launch of the Framework for Junior Cycle (Department of Education, 2015). The Primary Language Curriculum (PLC, 2019) and the Primary Mathematics Curriculum (PMC, 2023) both reflect UDL principles in their design, with the PMC's support materials explicitly referencing the UDL Guidelines 2.2 (CAST, 2018) and providing key considerations and practical examples aligned to the three UDL principles.
