The Recognition Brain Networks

The recognition networks, associated with the posterior cortex, receive and interpret incoming sensory information — what we see, hear, read, and touch. They are responsible for the 'what' of learning: how we perceive and make sense of information. Variability in these networks explains why some students learn best from text, others from visual representations, and others from hands-on experience. These networks form the neurological basis for the UDL principle of Multiple Means of Representation.
