The Strategic Brain Networks

The strategic networks, centred in the prefrontal cortex, organise and direct how we respond to learning tasks. They govern planning, goal-setting, monitoring progress, and executing complex actions. These are the networks most closely associated with executive function, and their variability explains why some students can independently plan and complete a complex project while others require scaffolding and structured support. These networks form the neurological basis for the UDL principle of Multiple Means of Action and Expression.
