UDL Guidelines 3.0: A Living Framework

The UDL Guidelines, first published in 2008 and most recently updated to version 3.0 in July 2024, represent CAST's most comprehensive articulation of the framework. Each of the three principles is elaborated through three guidelines, and each guideline is further specified through a set of considerations that offer concrete, actionable suggestions for educators. A significant development in version 3.0 is the explicit attention to equity, identity, and systemic barriers, recognising that learner variability is not only neurological but also social, cultural, and historical.
