Rec 11: Design for the Margins, Benefit All
Educators should adopt the principle of designing for the margins — that is, designing with the most marginalised learners in mind, in the knowledge that this will benefit all learners. This means proactively considering the needs of students with disabilities, English language learners, students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and students with diverse cultural identities when designing lessons, materials, and assessments.
