UDL and the Course Syllabus
The course syllabus is a powerful tool for communicating UDL values and setting expectations for inclusive practice. A UDL-aligned syllabus is written in clear, accessible language; communicates the course's commitment to inclusivity; provides information about available supports and accommodations; and frames assessment in terms of learning goals rather than performance requirements. CAST's UDL on Campus resource provides detailed guidance and exemplars for developing UDL-aligned syllabi in higher education.
